Dr. Gal Chivvis

Homeschool mom. Wife. Veterinarian. Author. Indie Publisher.

I am an emergency veterinarian with nearly 15 years of experience.

My writing journey started after my first child was born, when I felt a strong pull to create a children’s book. At the time, that notion felt insane and impossible. Years later, I found a way to combine my passion for storytelling and education through stories from my veterinary background, and things took off from there.

Since then, I’ve created educational coloring books for kids and adults, activity books, launched a pet-owner education site (CritterCareCollective.com), and published The Cat Owner’s Guide to Healthy Emergencies and The Dog Owner’s Guide to Health Emergencies, which has since gone on to win the Literary Titan Gold Book award and the 2025 Reader’s Favorite Gold Medal. And of course— my children’s picture book, which started it all, What’s Wrong with Tom? Published in August 2025.

I’m always dreaming up new ideas and working on several projects at once, some practical, some playful, and all close to my heart. I believe in honesty, visibility, and keeping things real. I make a lot of mistakes (and I talk about them often), but I also believe that’s how we grow.

Thanks for being here. I’m excited to keep learning, keep sharing, and see where this road leads next.
